How to Brighten Up Your Home Decor With Cushions

When it comes to decorating a home, there are many small touches which can make all the difference in the style created and the mood established. For this reason, choosing cushions that are brightly coloured can lift a space, where as muted tones can have a very soothing effect.

If you are looking to bring a bit of life to your home, adding some thoughtful combinations of colours and patterns can have a fantastic outcome. One instance of this at work is if you are throwing a celebration at home and want to add a touch of vibrancy to a normally toned-down space.

This can work especially well instead of investing in a number of bright - but space taking - balloons or other party decorations. Cushion covers are a simple way to keep your space comfortable yet add lively pops of colour. This is not only restricted to indoors either, with outdoor parties benefiting from the addition of small or large cushions.

To choose small or large cushion covers to replace your regular ones for the purpose of a party, consider the theme of your event. There are many simple block colour designs, along with a range of patterns which could suit your event in particular.

To give a concrete example, a children's party can benefit from cushion covers featuring favourite children's characters, bright blues, pinks and greens, or covers with festive image such as gifts, balloons and more. For an outdoor pool party, sticking to warm oranges and marine blues with patterns featuring seasonal designs or marine designs can work very well.

Swapping around your small or large cushion covers is not restricted to special occasions, however, and it can be a great idea to change your décor in line with the changing seasons. As the weather gets colder and winter sets in, one way to brighten a space is by adding vibrant colours to the home to lift the spirits as the days get shorter and people spend more time indoors.

Using sunny colours such as yellows, reds and oranges, as well as summery colours such as natural greens and prints of flowers and greenery, can make a home more uplifting at the height of winter. The opposite is also true, with cool blues and iced greens refreshing a space when the weather is exceptionally hot.

Brightly coloured cushion covers can also brighten up a space on a more regular basis and make up an integral part of home décor. This is especially true in contemporary spaces, where the addition of small or large cushion covers in primary shades can be a great addition to a minimalist and monochrome space.

In contemporary spaces that consist of whites, blacks, chrome and glass, adding a pop of colour through cushions can be a very inexpensive and effective way to liven up a room. Depending on your tastes, choose one colour only to add a new dimension to a modern space without compromising its stark style. If you like, add an additional toned-down version of your original choice of colour as well.

For more traditional rooms, brightly coloured cushion covers can also look great. Again, colours need to be selected carefully in order to look their best, but they can be a fantastic addition to bring warmth to a more old-fashioned home.

For those that are opting for a room that is full of country style furniture and natural wood finishes, the best way to complement this type of space with cushions is by using natural shades, such as warm oranges and yellows, dark and pale greens, browns and burgundies. These will add warmth and depth to a classically styled space.

Pass The Tissue Box Please!

Do you believe that you and I are here to serve others, by showing compassion and sharing our knowledge in times of need and in times of triumph?

What do you do when you come up against a situation that you are not sure how to handle? Do you shy away from it just because you feel uncomfortable? Do you stick your head in the sand in the hopes it will disappear? Or do you deal with it head on? Even though you may be the most scared you have ever been in your entire life?

Do you have children? I have two children. Since the day they were born I feel that there is an invisible force attaching them to me. I used to wake up seconds before they did when they were little. I often wondered if I had grown a third arm. Every time one of them got hurt, I hurt and so did my husband. This is what parents do. They try to absorb the hurt and pain for their kids. Whenever something happens to your children you in turn feel it. So when your child is diagnosed with cancer you hurt along with them, physically, mentally and spiritually. You may put on a strong demeanor but inside you are falling apart. Every parent who loves their kids may feel this way.

How can you and I mentally support parents and caregivers who have kids diagnosed with cancer? How may we defuse some of the mystery of what they and their kids may expect? After all, if the purpose of life is to serve and to show compassion, should you and I not share what we know?

No one can truly know what it is like to go through what families and children deal with when diagnosed with cancer, unless it happens to them. Hearing that your child has cancer is heart wrenching. It tears at the fabric of your soul.

There are volumes of people waiting in the wings to offer you, your family, and your child some assistance! Never believe for a minute that you have to carry the weight of this diagnosis on your shoulders, alone. There are wonderful children book authors who want to instill you and your child with a sense of hope by dispelling the fear of the unknown.

A beautifully illustrated book I found that talks about cancer for kids is Jenny Cancer Survivor by Paul M. Kramer.(1.)

There is strength and resiliency in youth. Within this book friendships are forged.

You are not alone when dealing with your child's diagnosis. May this book give you and your child some comfort. My hopes and prayers are with you.

Family Planning: The Significance of Siblings

In the modern era, couples are opting for two children or even one. Gone are the days when a couple would like to have seven to ten children. This notion is considered backdated and inconvenient for a family in today's world. While this concept is well and good, the purpose of this article is to show why older siblings in a family can actually make things easier, which is why they are so important.

Elder siblings give company and look after younger ones in respect of bathing, feeding, clothing and telling them bedtime stories, putting them to sleep. That way elders get a sense of responsibility from a young age. The younger ones feel a lot of love and care. The elder ones can guide and train the younger siblings in their education as well without having parents to intervene. They help to give a strong foundation in their siblings' education provided their parents did the same for them.

When parents are away, siblings have each other to find comfort and solace in their absence. They bond to each other more closely. They can share not only household activities for example, cleanliness and maintenance but also have fun activities for instance, watching their favorite TV serial and having popcorn together, ordering pizzas from the comfort of their home and treating themselves and watching a good movie together at the same time or simply, reminisce the golden past together, talking to each other and going over good old family albums. Of course they will fight and yell, which is why the elder ones are there to bring everything back in control.

When elder ones leave a family, the younger ones are the ones that bond closely to their parents and start getting a lot of parental care. Parents also start relying on them for fun conversations or serious talks.

If parents have an only child and both of them work, the greater chances are that the child is ignored, malnourished and underdeveloped. That is why it is so important to have an elder brother or sister who can take care of the younger one in lonely times, guide him/her as well as give a warm, loving company, which is so much vital for the child's health and happiness.

For these reasons, in my opinion, when a couple starts to think about family planning, they had better opt for having two children, which is ideal and coherent with what I have been talking all along for instance, the elder one helping out and caring for the younger one, giving him or her a good company, which working parents cannot always strive to cater for, as well as the notion going along well with the modern era social norms. Don't you agree?
